Lee Paje
Born 1980
Lee Paje’s works, whether painting or sculpture show keen knowledge of medium, painstaking attention to detail, and a refinement that surpasses the limits of material. Her oil on copper pieces as well as her fold out sculpture in wood or paper defy typical knowledge of how surfaces and form can meld seamlessly. Her pieces address issues of gender equality and world views perpetuated by ideologies. She often adapts images from fairy tales, Hollywood films, and other popular platforms to voice critique. Paje has a fine arts degree in painting, graduating with honors from the University of the Philippines Diliman. Her last solo exhibition Unexpurgated in 2016 was at Tin-aw Art Gallery. Paje’s works have been included in numerous group exhibitions in the Philippines and overseas.
