Mike Adrao
Born 1973
Mike Adrao studied at University of the Philippines Diliman under the Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Studio Arts program in 1994. He was also part of the artist collective Surrounded by Water and its artist-run initiatives during the 1990s. In 2009, Adrao had his first solo exhibition, titled Beyond Recognition: Familiarity as Stranger in our Midst, while he was an artist-in-residence at Project Space Pilipinas. He then had his second solo exhibition Decoy, Decay at Tin-aw Art Gallery in 2012. Adrao had also been part of several group exhibitions in South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. Notably, he was part of the special exhibitions section Southeast Asia Platform at Art Stage Singapore in 2014, and was the Karen H. Montinola Selection at Art Fair Philippines in 2015. Adrao was also featured in the exhibition Complicated at the Lopez Museum and Library in 2015 and Paper Trails: Southeast Asian Works on Paper at Sangkring Art Space, Jogjakarta, Indonesia. Mike Adrao currently lives and works in Metro Manila, Philippines.
